My 1 year old niece!

My sister asked me to lock my niece's hair. She stays with us during the day so I was able to take my time. It took about 4 days to finish. It could have been a shorter time span, but no rush since she is home with us all day anyway. When we started them she was about 1 1/2 and now she is 2 years old. I have done 1 tightening and she is due for another soon. She always asks me to shampoo her hair and afterward like many of us she commences to swinging her hair. LOL These pics are from the initial installation.

What a wonderful gift. I can't even imagine what her loc's will look like when she get's older if she never cut's them.

New2locs, I think she will look really cute, but of course I'm her aunt. LOL

Thandi, she may be enlightened on my niece's hair, but she is still strung out on the creamy crack. She seems to be entertaining the thought of going natural. Hopefully she'll come on over to the nappy side of life.

Her hair is wonderful, I'm thinking about starting locks on my daughter's hair, but I'm not sure is she is too young, and I'm afraid she won't like them when she gets older

Brown ButtahFly, when my daughter locked she was 4 and she is now 10. We are currently taking her locks down because she wants to try a fro. If your daughter doesn't like them down the line you just take them down. The more important choice, depending on her age, is whether she likes and understands them now. I talked to her and showed her pictures for about 3 months. I don't find any negatives for locks, but I explained that her hair would be like that for a long time. She decided she wanted them and had them for 6 years. She is going to do the fro for a while, and I predict that she will go back to locks after that. No biggie.

That is so cute, and so much easier to manage. I am strongly thinking about starting locs in Xzavier's hair I think it would be better for his scalp since i tend to braid tight.

Well, y'all she's still wearing them. She tells me when she wants her hair washed and shakes it in everyone's face when they are wet. LOL
