Just so we're clear

Someone posted an anonymous comment that they thought my locking my 2 year old nieces hair "was a terrible thing to do because she will never know her natural hair". Okay, just so we're clear...
  1. I don't mind people's opinions and love diverse opinions, however, I don't deal in punkery. If you are going to disagree with me don't do so anonymously.
  2. If her hair is locked, it is natural.
  3. If she decides to take them out later and get to know what you consider to be her "natural hair" then she can take them out like everybody else. I just got done taking my daughter locks down.
  4. Don't be so dramatic, it wasn't child abuse. We all make hair choices for our children. My sister has a relaxer and did more for her daughter than many relaxed mother do for their children.
Just thought I'd share my thoughts with the lurker that signed on anonymously.

I agree Thandi, it's not a problem then & we're actually putting a burning chemical on our child's head when we do that. If only I knew 18 yrs ago what I know now my daughter would have never had a perm & I would still have a healthy head of hair in the crown of my head instead of a thin area.

Tell 'em Sista! Thandi I totally agree with you. I'd much rather see a young girls hair in locs than permed or that flaming hot tool of torture used. Both state the message loud and clear that our hair is not acceptable.

One of my sons started dreading at birth and he is now 26 with beautiful locs all down his back and he has always loved his hair.

Real talk Queen. Most mothers are perming and killing the children's hair before it can really grow. Any natural hair style for kids or adults is healing and not hurting. Great response.
