If it ain't one thing...

Well, I got past the thoughts of what other people thought about my freeform mane. Now is the problem of my lifelong issue with HIHD. I just feel the need to do something to my hair. It is not driving me crazy, it is just one of those things. Oh, and now that it is not twisted I have all these "showy" gray hairs. I can tell by the length that they have been there for a while, but they weren't all out in public before. Anyway, such is life at 31.
Sidebar. I have a new nephew. He was born on the day after Thanksgiving. He is so cute. He and his sister are 13 months apart. We will be babysitting him too. That should prove to be interesting. I have found that I am a better mother in my 30's than I ever was in my 20's.
Back on task. Most of my clients are accepting of the new locking process while others act as if I have stopped bathing. I just really find it strange that as soon as locking went mainstream there became a certain "way" to "do" them. I just find them to be beautiful. My only requirement is cleanliness, and I shampoo more than most.

I think most people are going to comment on your hair regardless if it's straight, nappy, locked. Our people always got something to say if you know what I mean. I feel like this it's your hair do with it as you please! Back when I first went natural I had my hair in two strand twists & they were neat, but my aunt, God rest her soul, told me I needed to do something to my hair! Well I just let her know right then & there without being disrespectful that it was my hair & it was staying this way! You have to be the same way. We don't need to explain to anybody why our hair is the way it is. It's that way because we want it to be! By the way the etsy store is open.
God Bless!

LOL to 'acting as if you stopped bathing!' People...you can't pease them all, that's for sure! Can't wait for more pics, even of your recalcitrant greys!

I told my sister that I was thinking about free-forming my locs and she goes, "So you want to just throw your life away!" lol, she was joking, but I know that's kind of how people react (without using those terms.) The hair is beautiful, though. And congrats on the new nephew!

Cheleski, I have had my hands in someone's hair since I can remember. I was a cosmetologist in my former life. You are right, a bunch of stuff that I don't need. Pay attention to sanitation, scalp disorders and diseases, and chemistry. You will need it, because people will come to you with transitioning questions. You can send me a personal message with any questions on the contact page of my website. It comes straight to me. www.justlocscharlotte.com

I so feel you on this blog. Most folks do act as if locs HAVE to be maintained a certain way or it's not acceptable. I made sure my locs were neat and kept in my first loc journey, you would have thought my hands was glued to my hair. *lol* This journey all I care about is that my locs remain naturally healthy, even if I have to make products for myself. I've been very intriqued with freeform as I don't want my locs to look just like everyone else, I want my locs to display its own character, it just feels right in my spirit to do so. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Ittybitty,
I just find it amazing that even being natural we can be rejected for being "more" natural. I think all locks are beautiful as long as they are clean. I hate when people turn their noses up at someone elses lock journey. I know that I will do the freeform for at least a year. It takes some getting use to just letting hair "do what it do". We have been trained that we have to have our hair "done" or or get it "fixed". I want to let God do His thing with my hair. I think it will be beautiful to have waist length freeform. Girl, somebody might have to slap me. LOL
